Harvard University requires the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) for this application.
Tests accepted: LSAT or GRE.
Recommendation letters
Two letters of recommendation are required; up to three may be submitted. Letters must be submitted through the LSAC Letter of Recommendation Service. HLS strongly recommends at least one letter come from an academic source (a professor, advisor, or other educational contact). The application is treated as complete with two letters.
Personal statement
HLS does not use a single personal statement. Every applicant must submit BOTH written statements, each one to two pages, double-spaced, one-inch margins, font no smaller than 11 point (at least one full page each expected): (1) Statement of Purpose - 'What motivates you to pursue law? How does attending law school align with your goals and vision for your future?' (2) Statement of Perspective - 'How have your past experiences shaped the person you are today? How will those experiences inform your engagement in your law school community?'
Fees and waivers
Application fee: $90.
Fee waivers: HLS will waive its application fee for LSAC fee waiver recipients; a need-based fee waiver may also be requested directly from HLS via the HLS Fee Waiver Request Form (for Fall Term 2027 enrollment the form opens September 1 and closes February 1)
