Recommendation letters
Letters of recommendation are required by the School of Law and must be submitted through the CAS service (forwarded to USD with the applicant's CAS report); at least two letters are required and no more than three should be sent; letters should be from professors or individuals who can evaluate a significant aspect of the applicant's academic background and/or work experience, with academic sources preferred if the candidate has been out of undergraduate school less than five years
Personal statement
Personal statement must be between 2-3 pages, double spaced, with 12 point font and traditional margins; the admissions committee views it as an opportunity to evaluate the applicant's writing and thinking ability and to learn more about their interests, personal background, and concerns; applicants should describe the aspects of their background, qualifications, experiences, activities, and perspectives relevant to the selection criteria, and may also address why they wish to study law and their special qualifications, how they plan to use their legal training, and any additional information they deem important
