LSAT vocabulary: words that show up in RC passages
Reading Comp passages reuse the same academic vocabulary across subjects. Learn the repeat offenders and dense passages get noticeably easier.
Each list has twelve words with plain definitions, original example sentences, and a self-check quiz. The sentences are written for these pages. They are not from real LSAT passages.
Science passages
RC science passages love these words. They describe how studies are built, what the results mean, and where the argument is weak.
Law and government passages
These show up in passages about courts, statutes, and policy debates. Know them cold and the densest paragraphs get easier.
Humanities and arts passages
Passages about literature, art, and music use a specialized vocabulary for talking about meaning and form. These are the repeat offenders.
Social science passages
Economics, sociology, and political science passages run on these terms. They name the forces the passage is arguing about.
How to use these lists
- Read each word's definition, then read the example sentence twice.
- Cover the definitions and try the self-check quiz at the bottom of each list.
- One list per day is enough. Twelve words, reviewed twice, stick.
Put the words to work
Vocabulary helps most inside real passages. The RC rescue guide shows how to read for structure.
