Objection! daily courtroom logic puzzle · 2026-10-18

The case file

Between 5:15 PM and 5:45 PM, the library's after-hours motion sensor fired -- and a laptop was swiped from a library cubicle. Four people were nearby that evening. Whose alibi falls apart?

The rule: All four findings come from verified records -- logs, cameras, receipts. Exactly one suspect's story contradicts the evidence.

  3. Dana Wren: A camera at riverside park recorded Dana Wren at 5:31 PM. The toll transponder on Dana Wren's car pinged at river toll plaza at 5:37 PM.
  4. Hugo Bain: Phone tower records place Hugo Bain near riverside park at 5:00 PM. The toll transponder on Hugo Bain's car pinged at river toll plaza at 5:54 PM.
