Starting LSAT prep in November 2026

The January-test runway: November starters get the best deal in the LSAT calendar: a January test with a full two months, no application deadlines competing, and a quiet holiday stretch to bank hours. This is an underrated start month.

Your first four weeks

  1. Week 1: Diagnostic in week one. January is 8 to 10 weeks away. That is enough.
  2. Week 2: LR fundamentals, untimed, type by type. November rewards patience.
  3. Week 3: Use the holiday weeks for RC volume. Long quiet mornings are RC gold.
  4. Week 4: End of month: first timed sections. You should see accuracy holding before speed.

Upcoming test dates

Upcoming tests you can still register for: January 13–16, 2027 (about 10 weeks out), February 12–13, 2027 (about 15 weeks out), April 8–10, 2027 (about 23 weeks out). See the LSAT test dates page for registration deadlines and the full schedule.

How many hours

10 to 15 hours a week, with bigger blocks over the holidays. Hours are an estimate. The right number is the one you can repeat every week without burning out.

Pick a test date early

Do not study toward "someday." A fixed test date changes every decision: how fast you move, when you start timing, when you taper. See the LSAT test dates page for the current schedule, then count backward from your date. If your runway is short, use the countdown plans matched to your exact weeks left.
