Which month should you take?
- Applying this fall: take August, September, or October so your score is in hand before applications open. November works too - scores arrive December 2, ahead of most regular deadlines.
- Applying next fall: January or February gives you a score early and months to retake. April and June are the classic early-bird tests for the next cycle.
- Retaking: pick the next administration that leaves you at least six focused weeks. Rushing a retake in three weeks rarely moves the score.
Each month page below covers what that test date is good for, registration guidance, score-release timing, and a prep-timeline sketch.
