What the August LSAT is good for

Registration deadline guidance

For the 2026 administration, registration closed June 25, 2026. The August deadline usually falls about six weeks before test day.

Register early even if you feel ready. If you wait for the deadline, you risk the test slots at your preferred center or time being gone.

If you need testing accommodations, the accommodation request deadline is earlier than the registration deadline. File it before you register.

Score release timing

Scores from the August 2026 administration were released August 26, 2026 - about three weeks after the test window. That timing is typical: LSAC releases scores roughly three weeks after each administration.

If you are starting now: a prep sketch

The August 2026 test has passed. For the next August administration, LSAC publishes dates in the spring. A sketch of how to time your prep once dates are announced:

  1. Four months out (spring)

Take the free diagnostic, then work through LR and RC fundamentals untimed. This is the base-building phase.

  2. Two to three months out (early summer)

Untimed drilling by question type. Focus on your weakest LR types and RC passage structure.

  3. Five to six weeks out (mid-July)

Timed sections and full practice tests. Take one full test per week and review every miss.

  4. Final week

Taper. Light drilling, review your notes, no new material. Sleep matters more than one more practice set.

LSAC has not yet published the August 2027 dates. They typically appear in the spring. Confirm exact dates on LSAC’s official dates page before you plan around them.
