What the September LSAT is good for
- September is an early-cycle test. Scores arrive September 30, well before applications open in the fall, so you know exactly where you stand before you write personal statements or choose schools.
- A September test gives you October and November retake options in the same cycle without your applications going in late.
- If you are applying for early decision anywhere, a September score keeps that path open.
Registration deadline guidance
For the 2026 administration, registration closed July 28, 2026 - about six weeks before the test window. Future September deadlines will follow the same pattern.
Do not wait for the deadline. Test center slots and scheduling choices narrow as the deadline approaches.
If you need testing accommodations, file the request before you register - that deadline is earlier.
Score release timing
Scores from the September 2026 administration were released September 30, 2026, about three weeks after the test window. Expect roughly the same gap for future administrations.
If you are starting now: a prep sketch
The September 2026 test has passed. For the next September administration, once LSAC publishes the dates, a rough sketch:
-
Four months out (May)
Free diagnostic, then untimed LR and RC fundamentals. Build the base before you add speed.
-
Two to three months out (June–July)
Untimed drilling by question type. Track which types cost you the most points.
-
Five to six weeks out (late July–August)
Timed sections and weekly full tests. Review every miss until you can explain the right answer.
-
Final week
Taper. Light work, sleep, and trust the prep you already did.
LSAC has not yet published the September 2027 dates. They typically appear in the spring. Confirm exact dates on LSAC’s official dates page before you plan around them.
