What is role of a statement question?

A role question asks what job a specific sentence does in the argument.

The right answer classifies the statement: it is the main conclusion, an intermediate conclusion, a premise, a counter-premise, or background.

The trap answers describe the statement's content instead of its role. Ask what the sentence does for the argument, not what it says.
